More options for Japanese hot pot dish Sukiyaki could soon be coming to several Los Angeles neighborhoods in one fell swoop.

Restaurant chain start-up Sukiyaki Japan, led by President Kazuyuki Nagashima, is currently negotiating leases around the City for the concept’s first few stores.

While a lease in DTLA’s new Third & Traction development is signed, sealed, and delivered, other yet-to-be-disclosed locations could open first, according to Filippo Martellotti, a project manager at Sukiyaki Japan.

Martellotti and his team are hesitant to divulge details this early into the company’s beginnings because “we’re still a start-up at this point in time.”

And as such, while Martellotti did confirm the DTLA lease with What Now Los Angeles in a telephone conversation Friday, that’s about all the sukiyaki he would spill.

“When we are ready, we will reach out to you.”

Sukiyaki Japan’s Third & Traction home, at 806 E. 3rd Street, will sit near Kreation Organics, Yume Handroll Bar, LOQUI, and Death & Co. which is now open in the Arts District development.
