The long-time Italian restaurant La Dolce Vita is reopening later this year in Beverly Hills, located at 9785 S Santa Monica Blvd.
The 56-year-old restaurant, initially owned by George Raft, George Smith, and Jimmy Ullo, became a staple for residents of Beverly Hills until it closed during the pandemic. Now, Call Mom Hospitality Group, owned and operated by Marc Rose and Med Abrous, has purchased the restaurant and is planning to reopen later this year, according to Eater LA. The group is responsible for some well-known restaurants in the city, such as Genghis Cohen, the Spare Room, and Winsome.
When the restaurant first opened in 1966, it received financial assistance from well-known investors, most notably Frank Sinatra. Although the exact opening date is unknown, the new owners aren’t planning to change too much. The only real difference is the new owners are taking aim at the younger generation often found throughout the Westside. Call Mom Hospitality plans to remain loyal to its longtime fans by keeping the same white tablecloth ambiance.
“Our plan is to keep it La Dolce Vita,” Rose and Abrous told Eater last week. “We want to keep that iconic red sauce Beverly Hills restaurant, but make it a little sexier. We’re honoring the layout. It’ll still have that comfort of an all-booth restaurant. We want to lean into the pomp of service. It’s a huge part of what we’re doing, getting back to that classic style of service.”
