Sergio Espana’s Layla Bagels is expanding to Beverly Hills in the summer of 2024, according to Eater LA.

The beloved bagel joint opened its first location on Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica in early 2023 before gradually gaining a reputation for quality and innovation.

Espana, formerly of Tartine and Gjusta, mans the shop’s handmade sourdough bagels while Chef Sammi Tarantino oversees sandwiches and beverages.

Reportedly, the Santa Monica locale “sells at least 600 bagels daily and anywhere from 1,200 to 1,400 on weekends.”

Some notable menu items include the popular Laika bagel which features smoked salmon, tomato, cucumber, pickled onion, capers, and herb cream cheese; the simple yet piquant Scarlett bagel (pictured) which includes heirloom tomato, lemon zest, chili flakes, and cream cheese; and a seasonal Thanksgiving concoction that sees roasted turkey, kale-apple slaw, shaved jalapeno, crispy shallots with dijon aioli, and cranberry-pomegranate sauce atop the bagel flavor of your choosing: plain, poppy, sesame, everything, jalapeno cheddar, or gluten-free.
