Lenny’s Casita will be bringing its signature Mexican flavors to a site in Studio City — but with a “littler” approach. The team will open Little Lenny’s in a 1,200-square-foot second-generation restaurant space at 11923 Ventura Blvd. Co-owner Gil Tsruya told What Now Los Angeles that renovations are underway and they are aiming for an early March opening.
Chef Leonardo Nourafchan helms Lenny’s Casita, which operates as a Mexican kosher restaurant on West Pico Boulevard. The spot offers items such as street tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tostadas, fajitas, sandwiches, burgers, salads and short ribs, as well as a full beverage program with cocktails, beer and wine.
While Lenny’s Casita has been successful, Tsruya said they saw an avenue to pivot to reach a larger customer base.
“Over the years we wanted to expand, but in a way that was open also for non-kosher customers,” Tsruya said.
Kosher items can be expensive, which can provide a barrier for customers. As a result, Little Lenny’s will offer similar menu items, but in a smaller, more affordable format. They will also have beer and wine on the menu.
The design of the space will feature a mixture of vintage and modern elements, limewash, wood and terracotta.
“I hope to be able to open many locations because I do think we bring a different taste in the Mexican world. We are bringing a Middle Eastern touch to the flavors,” Tsruya said. “We have an amazing vibe and energy. We are like family and all the guests are treated like family. I think we can bring a nice, cool experience.”
