Local Kitchens, a rapidly expanding micro food hall chain based in the San Francisco Bay Area, is getting ready to open a new location in Studio City at 3960 Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

The company’s 13th location will take over the former Pick Up Stix space, as first reported by Eater Los Angeles and confirmed on Local Kitchens’ website. The micro food hall collaborates with renowned chefs and established restaurants to curate a diverse selection of menus under one roof. The new location is expected to open in Summer 2025 and expand into Studio City in June.

When the new Local Kitchens opens, customers can enjoy dishes from a variety of culinary backgrounds, including Sweet Onion Burger by chef Alvin Cailan, known for Amboy in Chinatown, and Tấm Tấm Rice by chef Tuệ Nguyễn, the force behind West Hollywood’s Đi Đi and a popular figure on social media as TwayDaBae. Other offerings include Yalla Falafel from acclaimed New York chef Einat Admony and Proposition Chicken, a Bay Area favorite. Additional chef collaborations will be announced later this year, expanding the variety of options available.

The Studio City space will feature 13 tables, communal seating, patio seating, ceramic plateware, and murals created by local Los Angeles artists. This shift marks a departure from the “digital-first” model of its Bay Area locations, where kiosks and app-based ordering dominate. In addition to the expanded seating options and art, the new location will also have more staff on hand to greet customers, take orders, and assist with service.

This approach will aim to provide a more personal, in-person experience compared to the mostly self-service style typical of Local Kitchens’ other sites. Customers will be able to order through the Local Kitchens app, as well as in person for dine-in or take-out options. Delivery will still be available via Uber Eats and DoorDash, offering a variety of ordering options for convenience.

This is a significant milestone for Local Kitchens as it expands its innovative micro food hall concept. Founded in 2020 by former DoorDash colleagues Jon Goldsmith, Andrew Munday, and Jordan Bramble, the company supports local restaurants by offering a platform to reach new customers without the overhead of traditional brick-and-mortar establishments.

With 13 locations across California, including in the Bay Area, Sacramento, and Southern California, Local Kitchens continues to grow, with more expansions planned. The new Studio City location marks a continuation of the company’s strategy to diversify dining experiences while maintaining strong partnerships with high-quality, local restaurants. This move into Southern California reflects Local Kitchens’ ambition to introduce its food hall concept to new markets beyond the Bay Area.
