Space housing The Capri in Eagle Rock won’t sit dark much longer following the Italian restaurant’s closure in late-2019.

Ice Cold Hospitality—Hi Hat Music Venue and The Hermosillo—is in permitting with the City of Los Angeles to open Capri Club in its place, at 4604 Eagle Rock Blvd.

The Capri first debuted in the 1960s and in 2011 regained popularity after a makeover and appearance on Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmare television series.

Ice Cold, which acquired The Capri Italian from the restaurant’s most recent owners Jeff and Jim Thiel, AKA the “Capri twins,” are fashioning Capri Club after the American-Italian diners of the 1960s/70s.

As part of the transition, the space will undergo renovations including a new bar, booths, AD compliant restrooms, and a full kitchen.

The “casual diner” will serve “simple fresh-cooked food,” according to the plans.

Capri Club will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. with a quaint 38 seats across its 1,219-square-foot space.

An opening timeline has not been disclosed.

There’s a lot of recent commercial movement on this stretch of Eagle Rock Blvd.

Vidiots is moving forward with its retail store and cinema a little more than half-a-mile up the street.
