Malibu Brewing Company, a family-owned craft brewery, is preparing to open its third location in Universal City in 2026.
The company’s third location will open at Universal Studios Hollywood CityWalk, according to a recent Instagram announcement. The announcement was made directly by the owners, Ryan and Jill Ahrens, who confirmed the opening is planned for sometime in 2026. This follows the brand’s previously reported second location in Agoura Hills, which is expected to open in Spring 2026. Customers can expect a craft beer and wine terrace offering house beers, food, and a welcoming setting.
Malibu Brewing Company opened its flagship taproom in Malibu in 2022 after founder Ryan Ahrens spent years as a homebrewer. The brand has since built a loyal customer base with its approachable beer styles and food-focused taproom experience. Together, the upcoming openings represent a significant growth phase for the company.
The Universal CityWalk location places Malibu Brewing Company within one of Southern California’s most-visited entertainment destinations. CityWalk draws both tourists and local visitors year-round, creating consistent foot traffic. This will be the brewery’s first location within a large-scale retail and entertainment complex. The move allows the brand to reach a broader audience while maintaining its community-driven approach.
Malibu Brewing Company describes its mission as elevating the craft beer experience through quality ingredients, hospitality, and support for its team and community. Its beer lineup includes a range of core and limited-release styles. The brewery has earned multiple industry awards across its portfolio. Existing locations also feature a menu centered on shareable plates and casual dining.
Additional design and menu details for the CityWalk location are expected to be released as development continues. The opening will add a locally rooted brewery concept to CityWalk’s dining lineup. It also marks a milestone for the family-owned company as it continues to expand beyond Malibu.
“We’re humbled by the trust shown to us by everyone at Universal CityWalk and cannot wait to bring some Malibu vibes to such an iconic landmark,” Ryan and Jill said in the announcement. “This opportunity is a reflection of our friends, our dedicated team, and our supporters.”
