Nathan McCall and Karen Yoo, the former owners of McCall’s Meat & Fish Co., are trying their hand at a new restaurant venture. McCall tells WNLA that Backbone will serve the Montrose-Sparr Heights area with a planned grand opening for August.
“It’s going to be an upscale neighborhood spot with a comfortable vibe. We’ll serve New American cuisine but will also have French, Spanish, and some Asian influences,” says McCall.
The restaurant will also serve beer and wine, and will include around 30 seats and a small bar.
Yoo, who previously helmed the bakery at McCall’s, will serve as the eatery’s head pastry chef.
Nathan and Karen sold McCall’s during the pandemic, and are looking forward to this next chapter.
