Olive by the Bay is taking over the former Vibes space at 76-1/2 62nd Place on the Peninsula. Co-owner Richard Rodriguez described the cuisine as “American with a Mediterranean flare.”

“We’re a small niche restaurant in the middle of 500 residents, so we’re interested in hearing from the community what they want to see on the menu,” explained Rodriguez, who has lived on the Peninsula for around 15 years. That said, he also mentioned that there could be specialty coffees, pastries, pancakes, crepes, hummus, kabobs and sliders.

The new spot will be open for breakfast, brunch and lunch. During dinner hours, customers will be able to rent out Olive’s space for dinner parties and catered events. They also plan to serve beer and wine.

Restaurateur Sam Sarofeem, who is also involved in a number of other eateries like Green Olive and The Olive RestoBar, is Rodrigeuz’s partner in the venture. “If this one is successful, we hope to open more restaurants together,” said Rodriguez.

As a Peninsula resident, Rodriguez is passionate about opening this space. “The Peninsula is the best kept secret in California, and we’re the only restaurant in the area. We’re really looking forward to serving our community.”
