Los Angeles is about to get even healthier, this time with a brand new Mixt coming to Downtown Santa Monica, located at 401 Santa Monica Blvd

The company’s third Los Angeles location will move into the former home of Sake House by Hikari, which vacated the spot after an arsonist caused significant damage, according to Toddrickallen. Now, San Francisco-based company Mixt is set to take over the space after two years of renovations. Co-founder and CEO Leslie Silverglide tells What Now Los Angeles she doesn’t have an exact opening date at the moment. The company hoped to open this new location in the second week of November, but construction has delayed plans.

Silverglide founded Mixt in 2005 with her husband, David, and chef Andrew Swallow. The trio set out to create a healthy fast-food establishment that was accessible while setting the standard for sustainable restaurant operations. Since its launch, the company has expanded to 16 locations in California, Arizona, and Texas, with another location coming to Phoenix soon. As for Los Angeles County, Mixt can be found in Silver Lake and Miracle Mile. The new restaurant will provide Santa Monica residents with even more healthy options.

When the new fast-casual restaurant opens later this year, customers can expect various entrees that are healthy and taste good. Each of their signature salads is meticulously chef-crafted and features over 100 farm-fresh ingredients. For someone looking to have more than a salad, Mixt also offers a couple of sandwiches and grain bowls, which can be customized. Whatever is purchased, customers will walk away feeling satisfied, knowing the restaurant diverts 99 percent of waste from landfills.

“We’re proud to make a meaningful impact on environmental sustainability,” Silverglide said on the company’s website. “As a Certified B Corporation, we commit to make measurable positive impact for our workers, guests, suppliers, community, and the environment. From team member benefits to the food we serve, we’re using business as a force for good in the world every day.”
