Mochinut’s website lists countless “coming soon” openings for its booming donut shop and franchisee Eric Lim has landed one in Eagle Rock. Their location at 3756 W Avenue 40 is set to open the first week of January, pending the full build-out’s finished construction.

The idea of Mochinut is to add a “modern twist” to the classic donut, Lim told What Now Los Angeles (WNLA). As the website describes, “Mochinuts” are Hawaiian-style donuts that are mixed together with Japanese mochi and American Donuts. “Mochi makes doughnuts light and chewy.”

“Eagle Rock is a neighborhood that is very ethnically diverse so there might be some people who are familiar with Mochinut,” Lim said. “We’re renovating to give the store a fresh chic environment. Somewhere you would want to sit down with Mochinut and coffee for a while.” Lim hopes that the new Eagle Rock location will introduce this modern twist to a wider audience of Americans who are not as familiar with the concept. “Our location is not only selling Mochinut doughnuts but also will be selling coffee, possibly boba tea, and other Asian tea and snacks.”
