Tocaya Organica has signed on for the Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City, planned for Suite 360 of the development. The fast-casual Modern Mexican eatery is finalizing plans for the incoming location having recently submitted a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) seeking approvals to allow beer and wine sales for on-site consumption.
The Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge are located at 12833 W Ventura Boulevard and are to be anchored by the fitness club and high-end gym, Equinox, and the San Fernando Valley’s only Erewhon Organic Grocer & Cafe. Ron Bondy, executive vice president of leasing for developer Midwood Investment & Development, confirmed to What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) that the Sportsmen’s Lodge is expected to open by 2021.
Midwood acquired the 1930s-era property in 2017 and later partnered with Gensler and OLIN Studio to redesign the mixed-use development. The landmark has undergone a $100 million redevelopment since August of 2019 when construction began.
Once open, there will be eight restaurants totaling 16,191 square feet with 6,088 indoor seats. There will also be 304 outdoor seats on a 4,046-square-foot patio. Plans also call for one 2,680-square-foot retail space.
Tocaya was founded in Venice in 2016 and currently offers over 15 locations, including in Santa Monica, Westwood, Toluca Lake, and West Hollywood. The menu offers a mix of burritos, quesadillas, tacos, salads, and bowls with options for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets. WNLA reached out to Tosh Berman, owner of Tocaya Organica, but did not receive a response by the time of this article’s publication.
