David Tewasart could open a new concept in Chinatown called Tang’s, a modern dim sum and dumpling restaurant, according to a conditional use beverage (CUB) permit filing.

When What Now Los Angeles reached out to Tewasart Friday, the restaurateur said the plans were tentative. “…As of now, it’s still pretty much up in the air,” Tewasart said. “Approvals, COVID, etc. Reach out in a couple of weeks. I might be in a better position to discuss.”

While the opening timeline at 727 N Broadway Suite 216 is unclear, Tang’s would span 3,370 square feet and offer 101 seats if it moves forward as planned. Like its sister concept Sticky Rice in Echo Park, the space would offer a small stage for live entertainment.

Tewasart has owned and operated several successful restaurants like So Long Hi in Downtown, izakaya-style concept RBTA in Highland Park, and a Thai street food stall in Grand Central Market, called Sticky Rice.
