A brand new drive-thru coffee shop, allegedly called Tea Cup, is no longer coming to East Hollywood, located at 4708 Fountain Ave.
Although the new drive-thru coffee shop didn’t have an official name, documents submitted to the Los Angeles Planning Department collectively named this project Tea Cup, LLC. Nhan Vuong, a principal at FHWV Partners, tells What Now Los Angeles the project has been terminated. The new drive-thru coffee shop proposed to move onto a 15,975 square-foot parcel at the corner of Fountain Ave. and Vermont Ave. The new 274 square-foot drive-thru won’t have any indoor seating, but it will feature a pedestrian takeout window. The proposed hours of this new cafe are 5 am to 7 pm.
One of the most significant issues nearby residents have with the proposed drive-thru coffee shop is the increase in traffic in the area. Following a traffic evaluation, it was determined the traffic impact would be negligible due to the shop’s small size. To further accommodate neighbors, the cafe will not be using any speaker box. Seven of the available 29 parking spaces will be reserved for guests of the drive-thru coffee shop.
Alongside Vuong is manager Aleisha Everett, who has worked with Vuong on the project for two years. It is unknown as to when the new drive-thru will open, likely in 2022. When it does open, customers can expect all the standards they will find at any other coffee shop, such as tea, coffee, and pastries.
CORRECTION: This article previously misstated a new drive-thru coffee shop will be opening in East Hollywood. Representatives from the company tell What Now Los Angeles the project is no longer moving forward, despite approved documents submitted to the Los Angeles Planning Department.
