Mood Ring LA, an astrology-themed lounge and bar, is coming to 425 W. Gin Ling Way in Downtown Los Angeles.

The company’s second location is expected to take over the former homes of Realm and Stay Zero Proof in the Chinatown Central Plaza, according to a recent submission to the Los Angeles City Planning Department. Co-owners Vanessa Li and Bowen Goh will bring the Brooklyn-based concept to Los Angeles, transforming the historic Hong Kong Cafe site, which was a cornerstone of Los Angeles’ punk rock and music scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s, into a cosmic’ 70s-inspired venue with zodiac-themed cocktails, neon lighting, and Instagram-ready interiors.

The Los Angeles location will feature a full line of alcoholic beverages, live entertainment, patron dancing, and outdoor seating, and will operate daily from noon to 2:00 AM. Mood Ring LA will retain the immersive, moody environment that made the Brooklyn original a creative hub, including velvety booths, galaxy-inspired bar tops, and tarot card murals.

The original Mood Ring in Bushwick, Brooklyn, emphasizes astrology-based drink specials, such as zodiac-themed cocktails that rotate with the astrological calendar, as well as creative drinks like “The Sting” (Scorpio edition) and a Tony Leung-inspired bourbon cocktail. The LA location will similarly fuse astrology, 1970s design, and Hong Kong cinema-inspired ambiance, honoring the site’s punk and music history while introducing a modern, photogenic nightlife experience.

Bowen Goh and Vanessa Li continue to prioritize thematic consistency and community connection in their venues. Mood Ring LA is expected to become a destination for both locals and visitors seeking a uniquely styled lounge with attention to detail and immersive design. An opening date has not yet been announced, but it will likely open sometime in 2026.
