São Paulo-based açaí and Smoothie chain Oakberry Acai are adding multiple Los Angeles locations by the end of the year.

The Brazilian brand is opening four new Los Angeles County locations by the end of the year, starting this week with a store on the second floor of Westfield Century City, next to California Pizza Kitchen. Next month the company will open a location in Hermosa Beach at 25 Pier Ave. Master franchise owners JP Bianchini and Rafael Wellisch will open spots further down the line in Encino and Santa Monica. The goal is to have 100 stores in California in five years, including one in Huntington Beach.

Oakberry Acai is a Brazilian brand, started in São Paulo five years ago and grew extremely fast. They now have 450 stores in over 20 countries like Australia, Germany, Greece, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Spain. In addition to the several upcoming Southern California locations, including a San Diego spot coming in March, the company is in talks with some strategic partners to open in the Bay Area, but nothing confirmed yet.

Oakberry serves its own proprietary blend of açaí and offers unlimited toppings and customizable options such as peanut butter crumbs (paçoca), coconut, banana, strawberry, goji berry, blueberry, and chia seeds. Their products contain antioxidants and are organic, vegan, all-natural, cholesterol-free, gluten-free, and transfat-free.

“We cater to everyone from kids to sports enthusiasts. It’s a great option for someone working who needs a quick and healthy meal, pre or post-workout, or a healthy dessert,” Bianchini explained to What Now San Diego.
