A new cafe is coming to Downey. One 12 Caffe is owned by Sam Sarofeem, a restauranteur that helms a number of other eateries including Olive RestoBar, which is right next door to the new coffee shop. The “European Style Caffe & Bistro” should be open by the first week of March.
Inspired by Italian and French cafes, everything at One 12 will be made in-house including their pastries, breads, baked goods, chai, real hot chocolate, matcha and, of course, specialty coffees. They will also serve American and European breakfast staples like savory and sweet crepes (think creme brulee for sweet and beef filet mignon for savory), as well as lunch and light dinner entrees like hand-crafted paninis and grilled cheese croissants.
“We’ve had Olive RestoBar for about 8 years and built it up from scratch. It’s one of the busiest spots in the city, and our customers love our weekend brunch. We decided to open One 12 to give them a breakfast option seven days a week. The patios of both spots will be connected, but One 12 Caffe will be a completely separate entity with a different menu,” said Rami Nasser, operations manager for several of Sarofeem’s restaurants, including One 12.
Anticipated hours will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
