The original Studio City location of Jerry’s Famous Deli, at 12655 Ventura Blvd, yesterday on social media announced it will close for the “foreseeable future” come Friday, October 30. The New York-style deli, where Comedian Andy Kaufman was a busboy on the television show Taxi, this year has already shuttered local outposts in Woodland Hills, Marina Del Rey, and West Hollywood.

“It is with great sadness that we will be closing our doors for the foreseeable future,” according to the social media post. “But it is also with great hope that we will be back to serve you when we reach the finish line of the pandemic.

Jerry’s could reopen sooner rather than later. Shortly after the restaurant — a fixture in Studio City since 1978 — announced it would go dark at the end of the week, Jerry’s followed up with an Instagram post originally shared by a patron with an “update” from staffers. “After hearing the news, the staff said they plan on reopening at some point,” the post states. Reps for the restaurant on Thursday were not immediately available for comment.
