This “King of Chicken” is pecking its way to the top.

Since its humble beginning in Daejoon, South Korea nearly forty years ago, Pelicana Chicken has expanded to over 2,000 stores abroad. With most of its U.S. shops in New York and New Jersey, Pelicana Chicken now cocks its head west with its eyes set on the Golden State.

With its first California location in Buena Park, just last week What Now San Francisco reported on the anticipated opening of Pelicana’s second in Cupertino’s Main Street shopping center.

Well, cock-a-doodle-doo. It’s a new dawn and the rooster’s crow is sounding off again to announce Pelicana’s third California store, this time, in Artesia.

The new 1,500-square-foot space, at 11710 South Street, will sit between Japanese hot pot restaurant Dip Shabu Shabu and Filippino restaurant Gerry’s Grill.

Pelicana Chicken remarkably offers over fifty variations of fresh, juicy chicken but is most known for its signature yang-nyum chicken doused in traditional sweet and spicy sauce. Korean fried chicken is all the craze–and with good reason. Its crispy tenderness is just impossible to resist.

Although an opening day has not been officially announced for Artesia’s new location, owner Eun Joo Cho told What Now Media that Pelicana Chicken is planning to open several locations in southern California.
