Pocha LA, which offered a modern Mexicana family dining experience in Highland Park, is looking for a new permanent home in Los Angeles.
The restaurant, led by actress Claire Risoli, opened in April 2020 and withstood the test of the pandemic for a handful of years. Unfortunately, the restaurant was forced to close last month following issues with a lease renewal at its previous spot at 6101 York Blvd. As a result, Pocha LA closed on August 4, but not without giving customers a glimmer of hope, according to an announcement made on Instagram. Risoli says she’s determined to find a new home for the concept.
“Although our restaurant will no longer be open at this location, we will continue to provide catering services as we search for a new home,” according to the company’s announcement. “For catering inquiries or updates, please reach out to us. Thank you for being a cherished part of the Pocha LA family. We love you. We are so grateful for you. Pocha IS because WE are.”
It’s unclear whether Risoli plans to keep this concept within Highland Park or elsewhere in Los Angeles. Hopefully, it won’t take the owner too long to find a new home. When the concept relocates, customers can expect deconstructed blini-like “burritas,” healthy salads, chilaquiles, and more. While this is an upsetting development for the business, the owner left its patrons with a heartfelt message while staying optimistic about the future.
“As we close our doors, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to the community and our loyal supporters,” according to the announcement. “Your presence has been a source of joy and inspiration for us. We will truly miss the gatherings, celebrations, reunions, weddings, birthdays, and connections that made every day so special. The love and support of our guests and the opportunity to serve our community have been the highlights of our journey. We served you all with all our hearts and con puro amor.”
