Porto’s Bakery is moving forward with an outpost in Northridge.
Plans were recently filed with the City of Los Angeles to convert the Sears Auto Center, at 1000 Northridge Fashion Ctr., into Porto’s Bakery.
“Preliminary review” and “discussion” are on “hold,” as per the Northridge West Neighborhood Council, so it’s unclear when the project will move forward.
Rumors in mid-2019 started circulating that Porto’s Bakery might repurpose the standalone building in the Northridge Fashion Center parking lot but at the time, ownership claimed they were only scouting the space as a possibility.
In addition to overhauling the building into the bakery, plans call for a new, 2,700-square-foot outdoor patio.
Porto’s Bakery, which currently operates five locations in SoCal, will open its newest location carrying on the legacy of its founder, the late Rosa Porto, who at the end of last year passed away at the age of 89.
[Editor’s note: an earlier version of this article incorrectly pinned the new Porto’s for the Westfield Topanga Sears-conversion project.]
I don’t understand. Is it coming to Northridge or is it coming to Topanga Mall? There was another article on this website and it forwards to this article instead now, does this mean the Topanga Mall article was a mistake?

San Fernando mission and Woodley has a big place available, just saying
It’s the Northridge Sears that Just Closed After the Holidays.
The Topanga Sears Closed a Few Years Ago, that Location Opened at Topanga in the Mid to Late 90’s Replacing the Old Broadway Department Store that had Been at that Location & Never had a Auto Center.
The Northridge Sears had been at the Mall Since the Mall had Opened in the Early 70’s.
