Southern/New Orleans-themed DTLA eatery Preux and Proper has permanently closed its doors, at 840 S Spring St. Owner Josh Kopel announced the news Monday on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we announce the closing of Preux and Proper,” the social media post states. “Over the past five years, we have not only grown as a restaurant but as a family and community. The team that we cultivated happily gave this restaurant their all, and for that, we thank them endlessly.”

Preux and Proper joins a growing list of prominent LA eateries throwing in the towel as a result of the ongoing novel coronavirus including Ma’am Sir, Amacita, and Broken Spanish, to name a few.

This isn’t the end for Kopel and his team, however. The restaurateur, without providing any details, hints at his “next project” writing, “the love and support we’ve received from y’all over the past few months has been truly remarkable, and we will carry that energy onto our next project (yes, there is a next project).”

The “next project” will likely not be out of the Preux and Proper space however, as Kopel said he had turned in his keys for the space.
