Prime Pizza is expanding to a fifth location in Santa Monica, located at 1811 Pico Blvd.

The new location will replace Grey Block Pizza hopefully in March 2022, according to owner Zak Fishman. He and his business partner. James Starr started the squared or rounded pizza company in 2014 and has locations throughout Los Angeles, most recently opening a place in West L.A. earlier this year. The new site, their biggest yet, has more indoor dining and a much larger merch section.  The owners are also hoping to build a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy pizza and beer or wine outside.

The pizzeria takes pride in selling authentic NY-style pizza to Los Angeles. They make their dough in-house every day and let it rest overnight to develop its taste and structure. On top of that, Prime Pizza uses Wisconsin grande cheese and California tomatoes for sauce. The new location will be a hotspot for Santa Monica College students, who can expect students deals once the pizzeria opens.

“We feel super excited about it,” Fishman tells What Now Los Angeles. “James and I are both from L.A. and have a lot of friends and family across the city.  It’s really great to be able to continue expanding across L.A. and reaching new demographics.  Being directly across from SMC, we’re really looking forward to providing a place for students to come and enjoy a slice between classes.  We also know there are a lot of families in Santa Monica who want a place to bring the kids and be able to spread out, and I think this space really allows for that!”
