PUBLIC Hotel, a hospitality concept by renowned hotelier Ian Schrager, is set to open at 8300 W Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, taking over the former site of the iconic Standard Hotel.

Scheduled to open in early 2026, PUBLIC Hotel will bring Schrager’s innovative design and lifestyle-driven hospitality to one of Los Angeles’ most recognizable locations, according to a recent liquor license application. This will be Schrager’s second project in the area, following the West Hollywood EDITION located nearby at Doheny and Sunset. While full development details remain under wraps, the hotel is expected to introduce a one-of-a-kind dining concept exclusive to this location.

PUBLIC Hotels are known for their diverse and trend-setting dining and nightlife offerings. The new West Hollywood location is anticipated to feature a mix of these popular concepts, such as Popular, a globally inspired Peruvian restaurant, and Louis, a fast gourmet market, bakery, and coffee bar. Other concepts found at PUBLIC Hotels include Cantina & Pisco Bar, a lively venue dedicated to Peru’s national spirit; 215, a modern cocktail bar; Lobby Bar, a stylish social hub; The Roof, an open-air rooftop bar with skyline views; and Artspace, a progressive nightclub. While it’s not confirmed which of these will appear, the upcoming West Hollywood PUBLIC is expected to debut an entirely new dining concept as well.

Founded by Ian Schrager, PUBLIC is part of a new generation of hotels focused on blending affordability, luxury, and experience. The brand’s flagship location in New York has gained acclaim for its dynamic programming and creative spaces. With its debut in West Hollywood, PUBLIC continues to expand its footprint in major cultural centers, bringing a fresh take on hospitality, nightlife, and dining to the Sunset Strip.
