After kicking off the new year with rumors of moving into an iconic site, Raising Cane’s appears to be shifting its focus within Los Angeles, opening a new location now in Universal City at 1000 Universal Studios Boulevard, Suite 103.

Previously, What Now Los Angeles reported on Raising Cane’s appearing interested in moving into the home of Norms Restaurant once its lease ends in December 2026, and even submitted plans to the city of Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission. However, since that last report, Raising Cane’s has withdrawn its plans after local preservationists and patrons expressed opposition. The restaurant on North La Cienega Boulevard is the oldest surviving Norms location, opening its doors in 1957. While it’s unclear if the restaurant will remain in the location, the site became a Los Angeles historic-cultural monument.

Thankfully for Raising Cane’s fans, that’s not the end of the company’s expansion plans for Los Angeles. The American fast-casual chain is planning to open a new location in University CityWalk Hollywood, moving into the former home of Dong Po, according to WhatsNewSFV. It’s unclear when this location will open, but the news of the expansion comes shortly after Slice House by Tony Gemignani and Insomnia Cookies were announced for the area. When Raising Cane’s opens on this site, customers can expect the same delicious chicken and sauce options that have made the brand so popular.

These three new eateries result from a sweeping transformation of University CityWalk, which was announced earlier this year. The entertainment district recently closed under a dozen restaurants and retailers, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Popcornopolis, and Sparky’s. Other new tenants coming soon to CityWalk include Escapology, which is replacing Samba; Line Friends Square, replacing Fossi; and Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe, which has already moved into the former home of Francesca’s and Chick Chick Chicken.
