Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams plans to open this year in Runway Playa Vista, a mixed-use property in West Los Angeles’ Silicon Beach with residential, retailers, and restaurants. The scoop shop will be one of several vendors inside Free Market, a forthcoming 20,000-square-foot space combining indie pop-ups and permanent shops.
While Free Market is expected to open in September 2020, reps for Jeni’s would not comment on an exact opening timeline for its Playa Vista scoop shop when reached by What Now Los Angeles on multiple occasions.
In the meantime, while locals await the new location, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams offers delivery directly to shoppers’ doors with a free delivery offered if more than four pints are ordered. One notable scoop to savor is the sweet cream biscuits and peach jam ice cream, made with cultured buttermilk and salty-sweet cream biscuits. The company continues its nationwide expansion with locations coming soon from coast to coast including in Atlanta’s The Battery development where the Braves play ball.
Other confirmed Free Market tenants include actress Abigail Spencer’s flower shop County Line Florals, Urbanic Paper Boutique, cocktail bar Joliet, local L.A. Mexican eatery Loqui, and the Parton’s clothing and accessory brand Alchemy Works.
Free Market originally debuted in an 11,000-square-foot flagship in downtown Denver in May of 2019.
