Salt Lick Tavern is getting a makeover. The Lake Hughes restaurant has been closed since last October for winter break and plans to open sometime in February

According to owner Tomas Rivera, the team has been doing some tastings and finalizing their seasonal menu, which will include “wintery items” like stews and their special short rib shepherd’s pie. They will also start serving breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays between 8 a.m. and noon.

What’s more, the updated Salt Lick will have a full bar menu with cocktails and theme nights like Wine Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays.

The menu isn’t the only thing getting a makeover. “We’re redoing the outdoor area with heaters, updated landscaping, fencing and windbreaks so people can sit on the patio,” said Rivera.

Salt Lick’s menu features a wide range of choices from casual to gourmet, and also offers daily specials conjured up by the chef.
