Shake Shack is bringing its burgers and shakes to Downtown Downey. The fast-food chain recently applied for a liquor license at 8300 Firestone Blvd.
The Downey Planning Commission approved construction of the new 3,600 square-foot restaurant with a 900 square-foot patio and drive-thru in March 2023. In an episode of the Talking Downey podcast from earlier this year, Councilman Horacio Ortiz said the demolition process would finally start in February.
WNLA has recently reported on additional locations that the Shack is working on in Torrance and Oxnard. The brand has more than 500 locations globally.
An opening date for the Downey location has not been announced.
