Shin-Sen-Gumi earlier this month permanently shuttered its Monterey Park outpost of 13 years, the yakitori and shabu-shabu restaurant announced on its website and social media channels.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this sudden change has caused for our customers,” according to the announcement. “Our wish is for everyone to stay safe and healthy during these challenging times.”

Shin-Sen-Gumi is opening a new location in Alhambra CA, at 45 S Garfield Ave., which the company says is a relocation of its shuttered Monterey Park location. The forthcoming “noodle and yakitori concept restaurant” is currently under construction and an opening is TBD.

Parent company Shin-Sen-Gumi Group operates at least 15 Japanese eateries in Southern California that carry its namesake, according to the company’s website. Each location specializes in at least one of the following: yakitori, chanko, hakata ramen, robata, and shabu-shabu.
