Simi Valley Brewing Company Planning Opening This Summer

The opening will bring a new gathering place to the community.

When Ali Zia opened Tarantula Hill Brewing Company in Thousand Oaks in 2019 alongside his other co-founders, he saw the brewery as a way to fill a gap in the market and bring a new option to customers to the area. Now, Zia is about to shake up the market again — this time in Simi Valley.

“I saw a similar opportunity here in Simi Valley,” Zia told What Now Atlanta. “Simi’s in a similar situation where they are actively excited about having a brewery in town.”

Zia and his team will open Simi Valley Brewing Company at 20 West Cochran St., aiming for a June opening depending on inspections and liquor license permitting.

The 8,400-square-foot space, originally intended to be home to another brewery, became available when that deal fell through. Spotting the opportunity to bring a valuable concept to Simi, Via swooped in to continue the brewery journey.

“The thought of creating a gathering place in Simi Valley where people could get together for a few hours was what we wanted to do conceptually,” Via said.

The space features high ceilings with a spacious atmosphere ideal for gathering. They also have a patio under oak trees that Via describes as an  “oasis in the concrete jungle.” The interior will be able to accommodate 200 customers, and the patio should have room for 200 as well. Eventually, the team plans to extend the patio further.

Via has tapped Daniel Price as their head brewer. Price has previously worked at the acclaimed Beachwood Brewing & Distilling and RIIP in Long Beach. At Simi Valley Brewing, the menu will feature a constantly rotating array of beers, with a focus on West Coast IPAs and lagers.

For food, customers can expect traditional pub fare with an emphasis on barbecue. There will also be seafood and vegan dishes available.
