While setting up as a pop-up at a local wine bar space, the owner behind So Sentimental is getting ready to open in Long Beach at 1429 E. 4th Street.

The company’s first storefront is set to open in the former home of Hope Alliance Church. In the meantime, owner Julian Park is setting up a pop-up in the future home of Buvons Natural Wine Bar & Shop’s upcoming restaurant that will open next month next door to the concept. Park began selling his limited coffee selections at 1145 Loma Avenue last week and will continue to operate in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Thursday to Sunday until the brick-and-mortar is ready.

Park tells What Now Los Angeles that the brick-and-mortar location on 4th Street is currently in the permitting process, making it difficult to determine an exact opening date. He optimistically hopes to open by late summer but realistically anticipates that the So Sentimental storefront will open by the end of the year. When the storefront opens, customers can look forward to roasted beans from distant locations. Currently, Park is serving Sey Coffee, which is based in Brooklyn. He also hopes to source roasted beans from Colorado and even Amsterdam eventually.

While the pop-up offers a preview of the concept, more items will be added to the menu upon the storefront’s opening. Customers can enjoy seasonal drinks and a selection of baked goods, but much more will be available once the brick-and-mortar store opens. Eventually, Park plans to introduce other drink options, such as tea and matcha, as well as additional snacks and quick bites.
