Sōgo Roll Bar, a modern hand roll bar located at 4634 Hollywood Blvd in Los Angeles, is preparing to open a new location in Highland Park at 5535 York Blvd.

The company’s second location is set to move into the former home of Holcomb, according to a recent liquor license. It’s unclear exactly when this location will open, but customers can expect a modern, intimate setting with bar and patio seating, offering a clear view of sushi preparation. The menu features a variety of hand rolls, including unique options, such as spicy tuna crispy rice. The restaurant also provides takeout and delivery services, allowing guests to enjoy their meals at home or nearby locations. Whether dining in or ordering out, Sōgo Roll Bar delivers a high-quality sushi experience in a relaxed atmosphere.

The restaurant’s menu focuses on fresh, high-quality hand rolls with various seafood options. Standouts include the Albacore Kari Kari with brandy, garlic, ginger ponzu, and a scallop roll with masago mayo. Other choices feature salmon with yuzu hot sauce and classic rolls like yellowtail, crab, and lobster. The restaurant also serves sashimi, beverages, and hand roll kits for takeout. The menu is designed for flexibility, offering both à la carte options and roll sets to suit different appetites and dining styles.

Sōgo Roll Bar was founded in early 2020 by chef Kiminobu Saito, known for his work at Sushi Note, alongside restaurateurs David Gibbs and Andy Paxson of Augustine Wine Bar, and Dustin Lancaster and Sarah Dietz of An Eastside Establishment. The team aimed to address the lack of sushi options in East Hollywood by offering a casual hand roll-focused concept. Saito, a Yamagata Prefecture native who moved to Los Angeles in 1980, has over two decades of experience in the sushi industry, including stints at Nobu Malibu and his own restaurant, 4 on 6. Sōgo Roll Bar reflects his dedication to high-quality, flavorful sushi in a relaxed setting.
