Somni, a 2-star Michelin restaurant offering a molecular gastronomy tasting menu, is finally ready to reopen in West Hollywood at 9045 Nemo St.

Previously, What Now Los Angeles reported that the restaurant that once lived on the ground floor of The SLS Hotel and closed in 2020 would reopen in the summer of 2023. After some more delays, the restaurant appears to be reopening later this year. Chef Aitor Zabala recently announced on social media that the company would begin to accept reservations for November starting on September 6th. There will only be 14 seats available at the chef’s counter and a private dining room for up to 6 guests.

“I want to make an announcement: After four years (sorry for taking so long), Somni is finally returning,” according to the announcement. “In the heart of L.A., Somni is back—a place where culinary mastery meets unforgettable moments. My team and I are ready to take you on a deeply personal journey, blending my Catalan / Basque roots with the flavors of Southern California. Every dish has been crafted with care, using modern techniques to bring familiar flavors to life with a creative twist. We’ve paid attention to every detail, collaborating with skilled artisans, millworkers, ceramicists, and designers to create a dining experience like no other.”

Somni first opened in 2018 under co-founder José Andrés and chef Zabala. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed during COVID-19, and since then, Zabala has split from Jose Andres Group (formerly known as ThinkFoodGroup) to reopen this concept on his own. Now, without the Jose Andres Group, Zabala is getting ready to finally reintroduce his one-of-a-kind experience, where dinner starts at $280 per person and is worth every penny.
