Sora Handroll Bar, a modern temaki concept known for its made-to-order handrolls and fresh, seasonal ingredients, is getting ready to open in Thousand Oaks at 2200 E Thousand Oaks Blvd.
The company’s second location is set to open within The Lakes at Thousand Oaks in Spring 2026, according to the Conejo Valley Guide. The original Sora location operates on the rooftop at the Original Farmers Market in Los Angeles. The upcoming outpost will continue the brand’s signature open-air, counter-style service focused on quality, simplicity, and hospitality.
Sora specializes in open-style sushi hand rolls made right in front of guests, emphasizing an interactive and personalized dining experience. The space will feature a casual, modern vibe, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese culinary techniques while incorporating a contemporary, health-forward approach to ingredients and presentation.
The menu features a wide range of handrolls, from classic options like spicy tuna and yellowtail jalapeño to signature creations such as baked snow crab with crispy potato and seared toro with yuzu paste. A vegan menu is also available, alongside appetizers like miso soup and spicy tuna crispy rice. Guests can also enjoy Japanese-inspired cocktails, sake, wine, and beer, with both bottled and on-tap selections.
Sora was initially established in Los Angeles, with its flagship rooftop location situated above Savta at 6333 W 3rd Street. The Thousand Oaks expansion signals the brand’s intention to grow in high-traffic, experience-driven destinations that align with its open-air, community-focused dining concept.
The Lakes at Thousand Oaks presents a strategic location for Sora’s expansion, offering a mix of premium retail and dining, consistent foot traffic, and strong demographic alignment for the brand’s upscale casual format.
