Sosogu Sushi & Japanese BBQ announced the grand opening of its flagship location in Long Beach at 3860 Worsham Ave #300 within the LBX Long Beach Exchange. Guests are invited to join the celebration the weekend of Saturday, March 22nd and Sunday, March 23rd where exclusive offerings, including 25% off all sushi coursings and half-off all signature cocktails, will be available from 11 AM – 5 PM each day. Reservations are available online through Toast.

Sosogu, founded in 2022 by musician-turned-restaurateur Tobias Miller, a former founding member and guitarist for The Wallflowers, and hospitality expert Richard Gottlieb, builds on its Redlands roots with this elevated concept. The Long Beach location refines and expands upon the original vision, bringing together premium Japanese cuisine, expertly sourced seafood, and a dynamic full bar, setting a new standard for modern Japanese dining.

At Sosogu, the focus is on purity and quality. The menu highlights the natural flavors of the finest ingredients, featuring premium Japanese BBQ sets with A5 Japanese Wagyu, American Wagyu, and specialty cuts. The signature sushi courses showcase wild-caught fish and masterful preparation, while house-made noodles are crafted in-house for authentic depth of flavor. Small plates and desserts offer indulgent bites such as Hokkaido Scallop Carpaccio, Nagoya-Style Wings, Toro Caviar Crispy Rice, and the decadent Brick Toast with salted honey, whipped cream, and berries.

“Japanese cuisine is an art form that transforms simple, high-quality ingredients into an unforgettable dish,” says Co-Founder Tobias Miller in a statement. “At Sosogu, we uphold this tradition by meticulously sourcing every element, from the fish and meats to the rice, and even crafting our noodles in-house. Our goal is to create a dining experience that truly honors Japanese culinary craftsmanship.”

Sosogu, which translates to “Pour It Up,” embodies a vibrant, celebratory spirit. At the heart of the restaurant is its expansive full bar, home to Southern California’s largest curated sake collection. Guests can explore rare and limited-edition sakes, including Katoukichibee Born “Chogin,” Noguchi 01 Limited Edition, and Noguchi 01 Special Edition. Handcrafted cocktails, such as the Roku Grapefruit Spritz and Japanese Old Fashioned, complement the offerings, alongside an extensive selection of Japanese whisky and tasting flights that provide a deep dive into Japan’s refined whisky culture.

Located in the upscale LBX shopping district, Sosogu Long Beach replaces Plancha Latin Kitchen and offers a sleek, modern design infused with traditional Japanese aesthetics. Spanning approximately 3,500 square feet, the space includes a patio and accommodates up to 135 guests. For an interactive dining experience, 18 state-of-the-art infrared grills allow guests to cook premium meats tableside, including Japanese A5 Wagyu brisket, hanger steak, and beef tongue.

“Our Redlands location was embraced with such enthusiasm that expanding felt like a natural next step,” says Miller. “LBX offers the perfect setting to elevate our vision, with an expanded menu, full bar, and an immersive Japanese BBQ experience. We can’t wait to welcome Long Beach to the world of Sosogu and ‘pour it up’ together at our grand opening!”

Sosogu Long Beach is open daily with the following hours: Sunday–Wednesday, 11 AM – 9 PM; Thursday, 11 AM – 10 PM; and Friday–Saturday, 11 AM – 11 PM.
