San Francisco-based chicken sandwich lovers Starbird is opening its 10th location in Hermosa Beach, located at 429 Pacific Coast Hwy.

The newest location, and the first in Southern California, will replace California Sushi & Teriyaki at an unknown date. The company recently signed a 10-year lease starting in December 2021, so customers can expect this location to open sometime in the first half of 2022. Owner Aaron Noveshen began the company in San Francisco in 2016. Now, the company has expanded to eight additional locations in the Bay Area.

The company takes pride in never using any antibiotics in their food. Their chicken is all-natural, sustainably sourced, and never frozen. The restaurant has made a name for itself through its tender boxes, chicken sandwiches, and house-made sauces. On top of their signature dishes, Starbird also offers salads, tacos, and wings. Noveshen recently stepped aside from his consulting firm, The Culinary Edge, to oversee the expansion of Starbird. It is unknown who the franchisee for this location will be.

“We began with quality, trustworthy ingredients, and real scratch cooking, taking antibiotic-free chicken raised in our Bay Area backyard and hand-breading it in our secret blend of gluten-free flour and spices,” according to their website. “Our goal was to create something fresh and delicious that people could feel good about eating. We tested hundreds of recipes, searching high and low for the secret sauce that would make our bird shine.”
