Seattle-based coffee juggernaut Starbucks is opening a new location in Carson, located at 860 E. Carson St.

The new store will sit in the former home of Filipino breakfast and brunch spot DJ Bibingkahan. The 3,600 square-foot restaurant has been demolished to make room for the new 2,000 square-foot Starbucks with a drive-thru. This will be the fifth Starbucks in Carson alone, joining countless other locations in Los Angeles County. There is no opening date for the new location, but it’s expected to open in Spring or Summer 2022.

The new Starbucks on the corner of Carson and Bonita will become the primary coffee spot in the Carson Bonita Plaza, which is undergoing several tenant changes. Other eateries within the plaza include JBJ’s Bakery, Fiesta BBQ & Bibinka, and Subway. There have been at least five available plots in the area, all in the corner of the strip mall.

Although this is great news for coffee-lovers, many customers are upset to learn the company has additional pricing actions planned through the balance of this year. Starbucks was forced to increase prices in October and last month, but that didn’t stop customers. CEO Kevin Johnson actually said during an analyst call the company “saw incredibly strong demand through the holiday season.” Johnson says these price increases “play an important role to mitigate cost pressures, including inflation.”
