The beloved and fast-growing coffee company Starbucks is looking to open a new location in North Hills East at 15554 W. Roscoe Blvd.
The company recently submitted documents to Los Angeles Planning Department to replace Burger King, which is still in operation. The proposed 1,440-square-foot Starbucks hopes to include a drive-thru and a 280-square-foot outdoor patio. This proposal proves the company is nowhere near slowing down in the Los Angeles area, already having at least a dozen locations surrounding the Van Nuys Airport. If approved, the Burger King site will be torn down to make room for the brand-new Starbucks.
The proposed site will sit between an existing Taco Bell and Denny’s. This is an interesting move from the coffee juggernaut, considering the company has a location on the other side of the block, within the Lincoln dealership. Unlike that location, this proposed site will be a standalone drive-thru site, making it much easier for commuters in a hurry to access. This is perfect, considering there are several car dealerships nearby, along with the Van Nuys airport a few miles away.
While Starbucks continues to grow throughout the country, the company has closed numerous locations due to safety concerns. The Seattle-based company has closed at 15 sites this summer, including six shops in Los Angeles, five in Seattle, two in Portland, one in Philadelphia, one in the District of Columbia, and another in Everett, Washington. The closures come at the same time as a handful of locations unionize across the country.
Interesting location given large homeless encampment surrounding this location
