Starbucks wasn’t kidding when they said they wanted to open 17,000 new stores by 2030. This year alone, the coffee giant has started building new locations in Harbor City, Wilmington and Oxnard, and now it looks like they’re trying to build yet another drive-through only store in South Los Angeles

According to a recent case filing with the L.A. City Planning Commission, Starbucks is requesting approval for the demolition of an existing building at 5810 S Broadway in order to construct a “1,220 sf. Starbucks Drive-Thru only restaurant with a walk-up window operating 24 hours daily.”

To support its rapid growth, the company recently announced it is restructuring its leadership to create a clear geographic leadership structure, which went into effect April 1.

“To further accelerate progress, consistent with our ambitions, we are realigning the organization to balance clear geographical focus with investing in functional capabilities to scale around the world, generating productivity and reinvigorating our partner culture,” Laxman Narasimhan, Starbucks chief executive officer, said in a press release

Stay tuned to see whether the new Starbucks in South L.A. receives approval from the city.
