Sunrise Shack, the Hawaiian-born smoothie bowl and coffee spot that is known for its bright yellow shack and laid-back, wellness-focused vibe, is set to open its first mainland U.S. location in Long Beach at 4501 E. Carson Street, Suite #113.
The new Long Beach location will open in the former home of Playas Ceviche and Torta Shop, according to LongBeachize. Sunrise Shack will not only introduce Sunrise Shack’s health-conscious menu to the West Coast but also serve as a central hub for future franchises. Co-founder Travis Smith tells the publication, “We’re ready to franchise… We’re going to be making a lot of our product out of the Long Beach location.” This marks a significant step in Sunrise Shack’s efforts to expand beyond its home base in Hawaiʻi.
Founded in 2016 by brothers Travis, Koa, and Alex Smith, along with friend Koa Rothman, Sunrise Shack quickly gained popularity for its smoothie bowls, bullet coffee, and healthy fare with a distinct Hawaiian twist. Since opening on the North Shore of Oʻahu, the brand has expanded to multiple locations across Hawaiʻi and beyond, all while maintaining a focus on simple, wholesome food that embodies the spirit of island living.
The company’s signature drinks, like the “bulletproof coffee,” have a loyal following. For seven years, Sunrise Shack has partnered with Long Beach’s Common Room Roasters, which supplies the custom-sourced single-origin blend that’s a cornerstone of their coffee program. With espresso now available at all Hawaiʻi locations, the Long Beach shop will bring even more of the brand’s signature offerings to the mainland.
Sunrise Shack’s expansion into Long Beach is more than just a new location; it’s a strategic move to support the franchise model, with hopes of spreading the spirit of island living across the U.S.
