On Friday, March 28th, Superba Food + Bread opened at The Commons at Calabasas, a destination for curated dining and retail experiences within the neighborhood. With a modern design inspired by European cafes and classic American diners, the upcoming California brasserie marks a new chapter while building on the welcoming hospitality that founder Paul Hibler and CEO Jeff Goodman of American Gonzo have established since the restaurant’s introduction to Venice Beach in 2014.
Envisioned as an inviting gathering place, Superba Food + Bread is recognized for its seasonally driven menus and in-house bakery program crafted with the surrounding community in mind. The Calabasas restaurant draws from that lineage, providing a place for family and friends to enjoy a quick coffee and pastry, relaxed lunch or sophisticated dinner.
Superba Calabasas will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week, with catering and delivery also available. Guests can expect freshly baked breads and pastries from Superba’s Bakehouse, signatures such as the Superba Grain Bowl, Lots of Grains Hotcake, and Roasted Mary’s Half Chicken, in addition to new dishes exclusive to Calabasas including an Egg White Frittata, Superba Hash Browns and Osetra Caviar, Bluefin Tuna Carpaccio, and a Market Vegetable Fritto Misto. A full beverage program featuring craft cocktails, wine, locally sourced beer, spritzes, as well as non-alcoholic options complement the menu.
Superba worked with the Klein Agency, a local L.A. design firm known for its innovative manufacturing techniques and singularly crafted spaces to bring the vision for the 1800-square-foot restaurant to life. Leather booths, counter-height swivel chairs and an expansive, shaded patio offer comfortable seating for 100 guests while 27-foot-high ceilings, stone and marble tabletops, movable pendant lamps and an interplay of textures such as stucco and vintage reclaimed redwood bring an edgy vibe to Calabasas.
