Tijuana-style Mexican restaurant Tacos 1986 is expanding into a sixth location in Studio City, located at 11288 Ventura Blvd.

The new location will move into the Eureka Plaza sometime in May 2022, according to owner Victor Manuel Delgado III. He tells What Now Los Angeles he doesn’t expect any changes in the menu or hours, as it will follow the same business models as the other five locations. The company recently announced on Instagram with minimal information, other than they are currently hiring for the new location. The new Tacos 1986 will move into the former home of Pizzaoki, according to Delgado.

Although there are taco shops with loads of toppings that can be found throughout Los Angeles, Tacos 1986 keeps things simple with their Tijuana-style tacos. Starting with their hand-pressed to order tortillas, cradle carne asada & adobada tacos topped with cilantro, onion, guacamole, and salsa, making this is one of the more well-known no-frills taco shops in Los Angeles. All locations feature the same menu with meat options, including adobada, asada, pollo, and mushroom.

When the new location does open, there won’t be much competition nearby other than Tere’s Mexican Grill and Tortas Mexico Restaurant. The new Tacos 1986 will share the Eureka Plaza with Daichan, and Natural Nail & Spa. Other nearby eateries include Lucifer Pizza, Feu Pho Kitchen, and Sattdown Jamaican Grill.
