The Boy & The Bear Coffee appears to be opening its next location in Pasadena, according to a real estate leasing document filed Aug. 4. The Colombian coffee purveyor, which also sells its own brand of chocolate, has signed a lease for a 1,250-square-foot space on the 951-973 block of East Green Street.

If confirmed, this will be the fourth location of The Boy & The Bear, which opened its flagship outpost in 2013 in Redondo Beach.

Founder Andres Piñeros hails from Colombia, which is well-known for its exceptional coffee. Ironically, it wasn’t until he was living in Sweden that he came to enjoy it, according to a 2018 interview with Long Beach Coffee Club. When he returned to Colombia, he began selling coffee from a pop-up shop in his Colombian hometown of Villavicencio.

In 2013, he moved to Los Angeles with the goal of bringing a taste of his home country’s specialty brews to Angelenos. Three years later, he opened the Redondo Beach location of The Boy & The Bear, followed by a second outpost in 2018 in Culver City. A third shop opened in 2019 in Westchester, according the coffee shop’s website.

What Now Los Angeles has reached out to Piñeros for comment.
