The Chicken Koop’s new Whittier location will debut this November at 6717 Comstock Avenue in a space just half a mile from its soon-to-close OG iteration on Hadley Street, says co-proprietor Jason Moreno.
The concept’s owners will also welcome their Downey Chicken Koop in October, featuring a full bar, and recently opened a new sushi concept called Azabu in Whittier. The Montebello Chicken Koop is the only branch that doesn’t serve booze, and it’s unclear if Moreno and the team have plans to change this aspect of its sole “dry” venue. The incoming Whittier and Downey outposts will mark four locations for the brand, with its South El Monte store closing not long ago.
The Chicken Koop’s menu includes specialty plates like The Garlic Chicken Plate which comes stacked with butter garlic roasted chicken and brussels sprouts on a bed of white rice; small bites & shared plates; salads like the Portobello Bowl; roasted and fried chicken dishes; sandwiches; wraps; tacos; sides; dipping sauces; “Lil Extras;” and so much more.
As for the locations serving alcohol, imbibers can choose from long lists of margaritas, mojitos, pitchers of either, micheladas, bloody Marys, tiki drinks, slushies, varying takes on the old-fashioned, cocktails, bubbles, wine, and bottle & draft beer.
