Ownership of Palms pizza restaurant The Doughroom had a good problem earlier this year—long wait times during peak hours in the restaurant’s dining room. A solution to this issue has been found with the vacancy of the adjacent laundromat next door, Sterling Fine Cleaning.
The 2,100-square-foot restaurant, located at 3409 S Overland Avenue, has acquired the lease for the laundromat’s space and hopes to expand by 1,673 square feet with the addition of a 102-square-foot patio. This will increase the seat count in the space from 40 to 91, including six on the patio.
Kaveh Karimi, the owner of The Doughroom, wasn’t able to provide a timeline for the expansion plans when reached Monday by What Now Los Angeles, but said, “The likelihood we ever go through with the plans is extremely slim (to none). As you can imagine, our current business is month-to-month due to COVID.”
Along with this expansion, the restaurant has also filed a permit to allow the sale of beer and wine for off-site consumption as well as a full line of alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption.
The ownership also filed a zone variance to allow 14 one-site vehicular parking stalls and 1 bike parking stall in lieu of the required 27 stalls.
The Doughroom first opened in July 2013 and has since offered “rustic food” made with local and seasonal ingredients along with craft beer and artisanal wine.
