The Outpost to Debut Next to Frogtown Brewing

The Outpost, a beer garden and takeout restaurant concept, is getting ready to open in Los Angeles at 2935 N Gilroy Street.

The new concept is set to move into the former home of an auto storage and impound lot, according to a recent Determination Letter from the Los Angeles City Planning Department. The 4,707-square-foot property will be converted into a 391-square-foot takeout restaurant, featuring a 1,306-square-foot outdoor patio with 168 outdoor seats. The establishment received approval for a Conditional Use Permit, allowing the sale and dispensing of beer and wine for on-site consumption, with live entertainment permitted. While an exact opening date has not been announced, customers can expect an outdoor-focused setting designed for community gatherings, casual dining, and local entertainment.

Owned by Adam Kestel, co-owner of neighboring Frogtown Brewery at 2931 Gilroy Street, The Outpost expands upon the area’s growing mix of locally owned, community-driven food and beverage concepts. Kestel’s involvement connects the project to an already established neighborhood favorite that has helped activate the surrounding block along the Los Angeles River corridor.

The Outpost will feature a beer garden-style setup with no indoor seating, serving coffee in the mornings and pizza made on-site throughout the day. The concept includes takeout service and community-oriented programming, with live events planned several times per month. Guests will be encouraged to walk or bike to the venue, as parking will be limited and valet service will not be provided.

Applicant representative Vanessa Delgado presented the project during a public hearing on September 3, 2025. Public comments at the hearing reflected strong neighborhood support, with attendees highlighting the success of Frogtown Brewery and the anticipated positive impact of the new restaurant.

Located within the Silver Lake–Echo Park–Elysian Valley Community, the site sits in a Light Industrial zone consistent with the project’s intended use. Its inclusion in the River Implementation Overlay District aligns with ongoing efforts to promote community-oriented development along the Los Angeles River, supporting the area’s transformation into a walkable, mixed-use destination.
