Wendy’s has transformed its restaurant, at 8810 Garfield Ave. in South Gate, into a haunted house. Dubbed the Wendy’s Scare-Thru Experience, the contactless encounter is going on now through Saturday, October 31.
Guests will face terrifying creatures as they navigate the drive-thru including the “Mad King,” a Burger King-mascot-looking figure that’s hosting a dinner party with skeletons, as well as a laboratory run by clowns. After grabbing an order from the drive-thru window, guests exit the experience out of a giant jack-o-lantern — pictured above — that looks like a possessed Wendy, the fast-food brand’s namesake.
The first 5,000 customers who visit the spooky activation will receive a free “Boo Book” filled with coupons including a free Frosty. On Halloween, Wendy’s will tweet out information on getting a free Frosty for its customers that aren’t able to attend the three-day activation.
“This Halloween we’ll leave the frightening tricks to our frozen-beef competitors and focus our Halloween celebration on delighting our customers with memorable experiences and treats as only we can,” Carl Loredo, Wendy’s U.S. chief marketing officer, said in a prepared statement. “Between our Scare-Thru makeover in Los Angeles and treating our Twitter fans nationwide to a free Frosty treat, we’ve got our fans’ backs this Halloween.”
