Umbrella Hospitality Group (UHG) on Thursday, October 1 will debut its new Umbrella taCO. restaurant adjacent to the company’s Melrose Umbrella Co. cocktail bar, Eater LA Thursday was first to report. Umbrella taCO. replaces a revolving door of eateries, at 7461 Melrose Ave., most recently home to Pirolo’s Panino which superseded Grilled Cheese.

Available for takeout and delivery, Chef Juan Catalan’s menu, which can be downloaded here, features tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, using homemade, locally-sourced masa and hand-pressed-to-order tortillas. Of note is the chicken mole taco which includes a mole sauce recipe that dates back to Catalan’s grandmother, the chef told Eater. “I am continuing every day trying to perfect it. Mine has a sweet and savory balance, which I think sets it apart and makes it unique.”

On the drink side of things, quench your thirst with a mescal or tequila from a long list of options, or try a signature margarita or sangria.

In addition to Umbrella Co. and Umbrella taCO., UHG is also behind The Corner Door and Lono Hollywood under the slogan, “When it rains, we pour.” It is owned by Austin Melrose and Zachary Patterson.
