World-Renowned Chef Marcus Jernmark Opening New Restaurant in Los Angeles

Jernmark will embark on Habitué with Max Coane and Robert Sandberg

Marcus Jernmark, the former executive chef of Frantzén, one of the best restaurants in the world, is opening a brand new restaurant in Los Angeles called Habitué.

The former executive chef recently announced the project on Instagram but withheld additional information other than the name and a recommendation to sign up for their newsletter for more details. Jernmark will embark on the venture with San Francisco’s Saison’s head sommelier Max Coane and chef Robert Sandberg. The trio of owners will open the new restaurant sometime in 2022. Stockholm’s Frantzén is currently listed as the number six spot in the World’s Fifty Best Restaurants

Before Jernmark worked in Sweden, he was in New York City, working at high-end restaurants such as Aquavit and Per Se. Then the longtime chef moved to Stockholm to oversee culinary development at the multi-story townhouse restaurant, which initially opened in 2013 as Frantzén/Lindeberg. The restaurant was shortly renamed to just Frantzén and eventually earned three Michelin stars. Jernmark recently moved to Los Angeles and quickly tries to make a name for himself on the West Coast.

Sandberg also worked at Frantzén after working at a series of kitchens worldwide, including Noma in Copenhagen and Maaemo in Oslo. On the other hand, Coane previously worked as the wine director for the now-closed Fifty-Seven in Los Angeles’ Arts District. The short-lived restaurant transformed through a series of restaurants and is now the home to the soon-to-be-opened Yangban Society.
