Yellow Paper Burger, a local pop-up concept that has been around for five years, is getting ready to open its first storefront in Eagle Rock at 1740 Colorado Blvd.
The company’s new restaurant is set to replace the former home of Meea’s Hot Dogs and Hungry Turtle. Co-owners Colin Fahrner and Katie Burnett recently launched a GoFundMe with a goal of $50,000 to help with the opening. All donated money will be used for licensing and permitting, kitchen equipment and supplies, decor and aesthetic upgrades, a POS system, and more. While the owners hope to raise capital and recently found a space to move into, they expect to open Yellow Paper Burger in early 2025.
“Opening a restaurant is scary, especially these days,” according to the GoFundMe. “But when has it not been scary? After many years of searching for a brick-and-mortar, we’re going for it! Restaurants run on blood, sweat, and tears. And last but not least – you guessed it – money. We’re here asking for your help to get us over the finish line on this project. We’re planning on bringing an expanded menu, including beer & wine, and yes, there will be hot dogs! Any amount helps, truly, and we appreciate all the support you have given us over the years.”
When the new restaurant opens next year, customers can expect a simple yet delicious menu that features either a single or double burger, a grilled cheese, a hand pie, a pickled egg with chips, and more. All burgers come with a buttered, toasted bun, mayo, chopped chilies, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and onion. Those who don’t want to wait to try these fantastic burgers are welcome to join the businesses on August 24th at Altadena Beverage and Market from noon to 4 pm. Yellow Paper Burger will also remain available for catering during this time.
